About FishoftheBay
(Like "Fish of the Day", but the Bay Area)
Eric Fisher is a storyteller turned product architect with a passion for communicating ideas and a love of building projects that connect people in meaningful ways.
My background in cartooning, layout design and architecture grew my obsession with telling stories through collecting, organizing and creating things that “just made sense.” An applied generalist, my specialty lies not in any particular medium but rather more broadly in understanding people, their needs and storytelling as a craft and incorporating these ideas into design and product concepts.
I was most recently the social design evangelist and a product designer at Facebook where I helped create main components of the website, promote the platform to third party developers and wrote the guidelines on Social Design. Before this, I was an interaction designer on search at Google and a designer/evangelist for the iPhone at Apple, having devised guidelines and design concepts present in the iOS HIG. I’ve also worked independently with smaller companies like Eventbrite, Milo and Airbnb, helping design their sites and build their brand.
As with any good story, I’m a firm believer in the power of consistency, simplicity and focus. I always look at the big picture and involve myself in projects where I can build or extend a vision, challenge convention and invoke new ways of thinking.
I’m always up for meeting to discuss design, product strategies and user experience. Feel free to contact me if you’re interested in chatting.
